Essay Plan.
Question 1a) Post production essay plan
Paragraph 1 - Introduce and define post- production. Refer to how i was at the start of the media course. Lack of knowledge on how to use the equipment compared to the knowledge i have now of technology and how to use equipment. List the type of technologies i used such as JVC camera, Photoshop, final cut pro etc.
Para 2 - Explain the first project we was given at the start of AS to build up skills for our main product which was to create an opening to a thriller. In our groups we had to create a swede which was to act out a scene from a film which we were given to by our AS teachers. Mention what we had to do when creating the swede - search for locations, pick the costume and props etc. Talk about how the swede helped me to work on my planning techniques and how it helped me to develop team work skills. Also mention the problems we faced with lighting whilst filming. Mention the positive feedback we got after creating the swede. when editing the swede we used final cut pro which was the starting point to improving my skills. Lastly the initial storyboard we created.
Para 3/4 - Refer to the thriller we created as a group. Mention the use of different technologies used such as Final cut pro to add Foley sound, create split screens, insert credits to follow the conventions of a thriller. We used soundtrack pro to create sound effects which we inserted into the opening. At first we created are own original ident but it didn't work so we used an alternative ident to add into the thriller. We also created a storyboard for this project to help us map out what scenes will follow the sequence. Referring to final cut pro mention how we added text, change of fonts, colour and positioning of the texts. Also talk about any problems we had during the editing process as well as the filming process.
Para 5 /6 - The music video and ancillary product. Talk about the skills i gained from the previous projects and how i used them in my final a2 coursework. Final cut pro was used to edit the music video, created base tracks to break down the music video and to follow the conventions of music videos. I made sure the beat of the song was in time with the lip syncing. Split screens were used as well as black and white filters to make the music video appealing to our targeted audience. Other effects were used such as slow motion and mirroring. Mention the skills i learnt from creating the thriller to how i used them whilst creating the music video. Photoshop was used to create the digipak which at first i found hard to use as i didn't use it as much so i had to build up my Photoshop skills in order to be able to create a good appealing digipak. After creating my ancillary product i am now confident in adding effects, colour, changing the size of fonts and importing images. I also learnt how to position images without stretching it from the original image size, also learning to add filters and background images. Synergy was used to highlight a certain object/image across all three products which is important as it helps the audience recongnise who the artist is and who the symbol represents. Mention the do's and don'ts we had to follow in order to make a good digipak such as sticking to two colours. Talk about what i included on the front and back of my digipak.
Para 7 - Mention the ways post production has allowed me to be creative? The ancillary work was the main product which allowed us to use our creative skills such as the type of colour to use and what kind of fonts would suit the layout of the digipak and what filters/effects to use. Once we had created our initial digipak we then had the chance to get feedback from our peers to help us understand what we can do to improve on our own digipak. We done the same with the music video to help us improve on it. Mention the positive and negative feedback we received for both the ancillary products and the music video.

Question 1a - essay plan.
Question 1a post-production and creativity essay plan
paragraph 1- intro
Introduction , experiences of media use before progressing onto the media course.
No experience with recording, camera placement, angles and movement, setting up equipment (give examples), using soundtrack pro, final cut pro and photoshop.
paragraph 2.- extended intro
introduction to media, given a tutorial to use the technologies (give examples).
describe the full process of creating our movie swede and explain what a film swede is.
mention how making a swede helped me develop my pre production skills such as planning a location and setting, props and costume and angles and shots.
talk about some of the problems I faced during the making of the swede.
talk roughly about post production and how the swede introduced you to final cut pro for the first time and i learnt the basics of final cut and how to add sound/music, cut and use slow motion.
paragraph 3-4.- The post production in our first major project of AS year, our thriller openings.
during the post production of our thriller opening we used various ranges of technologies and programmes to help create a pristine quality thriller opening. we further our knowledge and experience of Final Cut Pro as we learnt how to add text, change font sizes, colour and font style as well as position, we learnt how to layer sound effects, create Foley sound, how to import scores from sound track pro and embed them into final cut.
learnt how to use Motion to create a realistic and quality ident for the beginning of our opening. We added sound effects and edited the text to the names of our distribution and production companies "February Films" and "Jaman Distribution".
We also learnt how to embed graphics into our title credit shots and halved them to give the shots a split screen effect. This made the our credits more clearer to view as we placed the text onto the black back drop instead of on top of a photo where it was harder to read. we chose to use split screen so that we didn't just have a blank shot when ever the credits occurred, this made the opening more appealing for our audience.
refereed back to our Quark story board that helped us plan our editing process clearly. matched the story board with the editing we made and added and removed some shots. this helped us polish up our initial final edit of our opening and made sure we didn't miss out any key ideas.
Paragraph 5-6.- The post production in our second major project of A2 year, our music video and ancillary.
I furthered my media skills while creating this project, we used a range of resources a few of which are Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. I used Final Cut Pro to edit the montage scene of cuts for our music video, which allowed us the option to cut clips and synchronize the cutting pace to the beat of the song also this gave us the option to add creative and magnificent filters that, otherwise, were unable to use with out final cut pro. Some of these filter effects consisted of Kaleidoscope effects, tunnel effects, black and white filters, flow motion speed, reverse footage effects and mirroring, all of which I have learnt to use through out the course of pre production for our music video.
before the start of this project I wasn't confident using Photoshop as I have only used it a couple of times before hand, but after completing my ancillary product I now know how to insert and import images, layer graphics, change opacity, use concealing tool, crop images, resize images with out stretching them, adding text and changing font, adding filters to images such as desaturation, black and white and also cutting and creating addition shapes. These skills are crucial for marketing as demonstrated on my advertisement. Part of making a successful advertisement is synergy, including synergy to your advertisements allows the audience to establish clear links between the advertisement and the product it is advertising for example I consistently used the same font colour and style on the digi pak and advertisement as well as using a consistent colour scheme which was cyan blue, black and white. Also included in the advertisement is an image of the front cover of the digi pak, the front cover of the digi pak shows our main artist in front of a graffiti background which establishes the synergy which links the video and the digi pak together, this is an other form of synergy used to establish the link between the artist, the digi pak and the advertisement.
Paragraph 7.- How has the post production process allowed you to be creative?
During the whole post production process allowed us to elaborate and expand also improve our products creatively through adding finishing touches such as effects onto our music videos and burn them onto a dvd disc also printing out our ancilary products to scale.
during post production we had time to gather audience feedback which helped us to improve on many aspects of the video as well as the ancillery as the target audience mentioned things they loved, the technology aspects including the cameo of the kindle fire HD tablet and the intreging graphic effects, and the things they thought we needed to improve on such as the costume and the random cut to the motor way scene.
